In Civitanova Alta there is the historical Annibal Caro theater which hosts, together with the other two Rossini

and Cecchetti theaters, an important theatrical season. It is named after the most illustrious local character,

whose house is also present in the village. Another highlight of the town is "Civitanova Danza", an international

event, reminiscent of another prestigious citizen, Enrico Cecchetti, principal dancer at the court of Russia in

the nineteenth century. The Municipal Art Gallery Moretti (with permanent paintings exhibition by Carrà,

Morandi, De Chirico, Guttuso and Ligabue) and the former Church of Sant'Agostino are two other places

of culture in the city where, for some years now, summer exhibitions have been organized. Also of interest

are the Tram Station (1900) in Art Nouveau style, rich in polychrome ceramics, the Museum of Popular

Arts and Traditions, with numerous artifacts from the Marche rural culture, and the unique historical Trot

Museum outside the city centre. Civitanova Marche, built around the Fortress and the remains of the

Roman Cluana, boasts the imposing Palazzo Cesarini Sforza, erected in 1862 on a primitive construction

of the XIV century and current premises of the Town Hall. In front of the building there is the square

Piazza XX Settembre. Characteristic are the Public Gardens, the buildings of Lido Cluana in Art Nouveau

style and the fish market. The southern area is characterized by the numerous trees of Viale Vittorio

Veneto, where the former Casa dei Balilla is located, designed by Adalberto Libera, one of the

masters of rationalism, now home to the Municipal Library and the Cinema Teatro E. Cecchetti.

Alongside the numerous commercial and industrial activities, there are many outlets of prestigious Italian

brands in the area, especially in the footwear sector. There are sports facilities equipped

for the most varied disciplines, including golf, horse riding and sailing.

Centrally located along the Adriatic coast of the Marche region, Civitanova is the ideal starting point in order

to reach all the main sights and attractions of the region. Driving along the Superstrada SS 77 you can

reach the Sibillini Mountains in just over an hour's drive. The nearby centers of Macerata are worth a visit

(just 25 km. away), Fermo, Ascoli Piceno and Ancona, as well as the Marian shrine of Loreto, Recanati with

the family house of Giacomo Leopardi, but also the smaller villages that surround Civitanova, like Montecosaro,

Morrovalle, Potenza Picena, Montelupone offer significant points of artistic and cultural interest.
